Many different methods are used by advertisers in order to draw the viewer in to watching the advert and buying the product. For example, a lot of the time, advertisers try to exploit the fears and weaknesses of the viewers, such as sex appeal, personal success, security, identification and many more. TV Ident Proposal
For my TV ident, I have chosen to do it on the channel MTV. I’ve chosen MTV because their idents are creative, eye catching and musical. MTV’s target audience is between 16 – 34 year olds, they show programs such as ‘Jackass’, ‘Cribs’, ‘Pimp My Ride’ and a music channel with new music and up coming artists that might appeal to the younger audience (teenagers.) MTV’s mission statement is “To own the youth of America. We will tell them (the youth) what to listen to, what to wear, what to buy.”
The MTV logo has given me some great ideas for creating my own TV Ident. My first idea is to have a rocket blast off from the Earth and land on the moon. The MTV logo will then apear from the rocket and move to the center of the screen. From one side, a monster runs towards the MTV logo and eats it. The monster shakes a bit, then spits out the MTV logo as the new WTF logo (Welcome to Fun). The WTF logo gets bigger and scares the monster away. I thought this would work as an MTV ident because it would appeal to the younger target audience of the channel, the teenagers. Also, accompanied by music this ident would be eye catching. My second idea for an MTV ident is having the MTV logo bouncing around the city (filmed footage) leaving splurges of colourful paint where ever the logo touches. I’m hoping that the colour and fast pace of the ident will appeal to the channels target audience. My final idea for an MTV ident is an empty stage with a crowd cheering waiting for the act, all of a sudden the MTV logo drops down onto the stage moves around the stage a bit while the the crowd go crazy.
I’ve decided to go with my first idea, the MTV logo on the Moon. I chose this idea because I thought it’s the most feasible but also the most eye catching and interesting.
